What is the importance of warming up before going out for a run?

With this cold spell of weather on its way, we thought it would be a good idea to share with you why it is so important to warm up before you head out for a run, and give you some ideas of what a home warm up should include.

Benefits of a warm up

A good “dynamic” mobilisation warm up increases the range of movement of the joints, activates muscles and gently prepares the body for exercises by gradually increasing the heart rate and circulation.  A thorough warm up will reduce your risk of injury and allow you to run with better form.
